LISTEN: Danny Sheridan high on Chad Morris, says Arkansas could soon challenge Alabama and Georgia

The Arkansas Razorbacks didn’t get much fanfare when they hired former Clemson OC and then-SMU coach Chad Morris to replace Bret Bielema.

However, some college football experts like what they’ve seen in Morris and think the Razorbacks will be much better off under him.

On Friday’s edition of “Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly,” USA TODAY handicapper Danny Sheridan said he thinks Morris’s Hogs could challenge Alabama and Georgia for SEC supremacy in three or four years:

“It’s not unreasonable to think that in three or four years, Morris will be No. 2 in the SEC, maybe right behind Alabama and as good as Georgia,” he said. “That’s not unreasonable if this trend continues and he gets those Texas guys. Four years from now, I think Morris is right up there at the top with Alabama.”

Obviously, Morris has a lot of work to do to get the Hogs to that point, but Sheridan’s point about the Texas athletes is a good one.

Still, competing in the SEC West isn’t easy, as Texas A&M hired Jimbo Fisher, Auburn is a powerhouse, LSU is always tough, the Mississippi schools have flashes of brilliance and Alabama is Alabama.

It will be interesting to see how the Hogs fare in 2018 and beyond, but Sheridan at least is a big believer in Morris as the team’s head coach.
