Tennessee's Pruitt will remain with Alabama during CFP

Jeremy Pruitt may have been announced as the new Tennessee head coach on Thursday, but he will remain the defensive coordinator of Alabama throughout the Crimson Tide’s run in the College Football Playoff.

Head coach Nick Saban confirmed to Michael Casagrande of AL.com that Pruitt will remain with Alabama through the semifinal against Clemson and the national championship game against the winner of OklahomaGeorgia should they reach that point.

This is the third straight season Saban has had to deal with a coordinator taking a head coaching job before the start of the College Football Playoff. In 2015, Kirby Smart was hired by Georgia but remained as the defensive coordinator and helped the Crimson Tide win the national title.

Last season, Lane Kiffin was hired by Florida Atlantic, but left the program after the semifinal win over Washington. Alabama lost the national championship to Clemson without him.
