Nick Saban is facing a familiar problem this December: Not only is Alabama heading into the College Football Playoff for the fourth consecutive season but the team will have to deal with the added stress of losing a coordinator during the postseason run for the third consecutive season.
The first time was the smoothest, as Kirby Smart handled double duty at Alabama and Georgia as well as can be expected. Lane Kiffin, on the other hand, managed it well enough to be fired in the middle of the Playoff run.
Now Saban and his defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, who was hired by Tennessee Thursday, have to figure out how to handle this year’s situation.
Saban met with the media Thursday in Atlanta leading up to ESPN’s annual College Football Award Show and the first question he was asked was about Pruitt’s status moving forward. Saban revealed that his DC is staying throughout Alabama’s Playoff run.
“(Pruitt) will finish the season with us,” Saban said.
