It’s been a decade since Herm Edwards last coached a football team, so you can forgive him for being a little out of touch when it comes to modern uniform trends.
But tighter jerseys aren’t exactly a new development, especially in the college ranks, so Edwards being totally confused when someone presented him with Arizona State’s jersey is a little, um, strange…
This is like one of those movies where someone from the dark ages gets transported to the present and has no idea what anything is. Edwards is so out his depth and, based on some of his comments, probably has no business coaching a college football team in 2017.
“It’s the huddle. You miss the huddle. You miss the ability to walk in the room where collectively players that are from everywhere: every race, every religion, every color — it don’t matter. Because you have a common goal. You have a common goal.”
I’m not even sure he had heard of Arizona State before agreeing to take the job. Does he even know the mascot of his new team?
Edwards actually had to ask which way his Sun Devils logo pin should be facing. Do some research, man…
This is shaping up to be a disaster. A weird, hilarious disaster.
