Michigan's Speight cleared to practice

Michigan received promising news regarding its injured senior quarterback on Monday, as head coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed that Wilton Speight has been cleared to return to practice, according to Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News.

Harbaugh added that Speight will avoid contact during practice for the time being, and that he remains unsure if the senior will be able to return at some point during the next two weeks.

Speight has been out of action since Sept. 23 when he suffered three fractured vertebrae in the Wolverines’ contest against Purdue – an injury Harbaugh had indicated could potentially be season-ending.

The Wolverines have used multiple options at the quarterback position in Speight’s absence, with both John O’Korn and Brandon Peters experiencing mixed results
