Alabama remains oddsmakers favorite for national title

In a week that saw No. 1 Georgia and No. 3 Notre Dame fall in embarrassing fashion, Las Vegas oddsmakers are holding firm with their choice of Alabama as the favorite to win the national title.

The latest odds from the Westgate Superbook’s Jeff Sherman have the Crimson Tide as 10-11 favorites to win the College Football Playoff in January, followed by Oklahoma at 4-1 after its impressive win against TCU this weekend.

Clemson and Miami round out the top four at 8-1, with the Hurricanes’ huge win over the Fighting Irish the catalyst for the Miami jump. Mark Richt’s bunch began the season with 30-1 odds to win the title, but an undefeated start to the campaign and back-to-back wins over top-15 opponents has the team’s odds soaring.

Wisconsin has also run the table to open the season and has seen its odds change from 40-1 to 10-1 as a result, while Auburn and Georgia also sit at 10-1.

School Opening odds Current odds
Alabama 3-1 10-11
Oklahoma 8-1 4-1
Clemson 20-1 8-1
Miami 30-1 8-1

Auburn 25-1 10-1
Georgia 30-1 10-1
Ohio State 8-1 15-1
USC 8-1 60-1
Michigan 12-1 80-1

With the likelihood that no Pac-12 team will make the CFP, USC has seen its odds move from 8-1 at the start of the season to 60-1 in the latest offering, while Michigan has moved all the way from 12-1 to 80-1 after losses to Michigan State and Penn State this year.
