Texas A&M's Gunnell apologizes for flipping off fans at Kyle Field

It wasn’t a matter of if, but when Texas A&M‘s Will Gunnell was going to issue an apology for his conduct Saturday.

After trailing Louisiana-Layfayette 21-14 at the half, Gunnell was caught flipping off the crowd at Kyle Field while heading to the locker room. The Aggies would rebound in the second half, ultimately cruising to a 45-21 victory, and after the game the freshman acknowledged his actions.

“First and foremost I’d like to apologize to my family, teammates, and the university as a whole,” the wide receiver wrote on his Twitter account. “The action was an ill-advised gesture in no way aimed at the fans. I’m deeply sorry my actions took away from the game. I was raised better and this brief moment will haunt me for the rest of my life. Again, I am truly sorry to my teammates, the coaches, and the Aggie nation as a whole. I take full responsibility for my actions.”

Head coach Kevin Sumlin commented on Gunnell’s behavior after the game:
