Oklahoma fan starts GoFundMe page for Baker Mayfield statue

Baker Mayfield is still working through the final chapter of his collegiate career, but one Oklahoma fan is already thinking ahead to a very prestigious honor for the quarterback.

A man by the name of James Newton has created a GoFundMe page with the goal of raising $500,000 to erect a statue in Mayfield’s honor. Newton professes that Mayfield should win the Heisman Trophy this season, but declares that he still deserves a statue whether he wins the Heisman or not.

“If he wins the Heisman, this fund will go to OU to build the statue and more. Of course, it won’t take $500K to make the statue, so everything else left over will go to a Baker Mayfield scholarship for mutts, underdogs, and anyone who demonstrates the moxy and passion for winning in Baker Mayfield style,” the page reads.

In the 24 hours since the page was created, a total of $120 in donations has been collected.

Hey, all big accomplishments have to start at the ground level, right?
