Media’s preseason ACC predictions released

Following the SEC’s lead, the ACC had its own media days event over the weekend. Just like the SEC, the media covering the ACC gets together and does its best to predict the outcome of each division and overall champion in the preseason.

With all the votes being cast and accounted for, the ACC released the results Monday morning. To no surprise, the league’s media predicts Florida State to win both the Atlantic Division and the overall conference title with Miami being the favorite to win the Coastal Division heading into the season.

Here’s a complete breakdown of the ACC media voting:

ACC Champion

1. Florida State – 118 votes

2. Clemson – 35 votes

3. Louisville – 7 votes

4. Virginia Tech – 3 votes

4. Miami – 3 votes

6. Duke – 1 vote

Atlantic Division

1. Florida State – 1,108 points

2. Clemson – 1,007 points

3. Louisville – 843 points

4. NC State – 658 points

5. Wake Forest –  415 points

6. Syracuse – 362 points

7. Boston College – 283 points

Coastal Division

1. Miami – 1,065 points

2. Virginia Tech – 932 points

3. Georgia Tech – 708 points

4. Pitt – 673 points

5. North Carolina – 606 points

6. Duke – 473 points

7. Virginia – 219 points

Several of these teams will face off against SEC foes early in the season, most notably FSU and Alabama on the first full regular season weekend. Georgia Tech and Tennessee face off two days later in Atlanta. NC State opens the season in Charlotte against South Carolina, while Auburn travels to Clemson in Week 2 of the season.
