Harbaugh confirms Michigan's Johnson will not play football in 2017

Drake Johnson had been working his way back onto the football field after missing all of last season with injury, but it appears that journey has ended.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh informed Dan Murphy of ESPN on Monday that Johnson will not be playing football this season, instead focusing his efforts to the Wolverines track and field team. Johnson missed all of last season after suffering a hamstring injury, according to Rachel Lenzi of Land of 10.

Johnson was also famous last offseason for escaping serious injuries after being struck by a forklift in April 2016.

The fifth-year senior, saw his best season come in 2014 when he rushed for 361 yards and four touchdowns on 60 carries. Johnson had previously suffered a torn ACL as a sophomore in 2013 and was forced to miss the majority of the season.
