United Airlines is getting the naming rights to Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, according to a report from sportsbusinessdaily.com. The report says that the $70 million deal will run for 15 years, which is a ton of money to pay for a stadium that everyone will call “The Coliseum” regardless.
The stadium is the longtime home of USC football and is serving as the temporary home of the Los Angeles Rams until the now-delayed Inglewood stadium opens.
As we know, the past couple months have not been the best for United Airlines considering the PR fiasco that ensued when a passenger was forcibly dragged off an overbooked flight. With that in mind, Twitter had itself a field day with jokes about the new stadium name.
Sounds about right.
