Auburn’s defensive depth took a hit Thursday as the school has announced the transfers of two young defenders coming off redshirt seasons.
Defensive back Marlon Character and defensive lineman Antwuan Jackson have both left the program after not seeing the field for the Tigers last season.
“They’ve decided to move on. We wish them nothing but the best,” Malzahn said via statement.
Character, a three-star recruit, was a Georgia GSWA Class 4A all-state performer in 2016. Jackson was named to the SEC’s Academic Honor Roll last season after enrolling early last January, a 2016 U.S. Army All-American and one of the nation’s Top 50 players coming out of high school. Jackson signed with Auburn over offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Clemson, Florida State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and USC among others.
