Tennessee has gotten off to a terrific start this season and remain perfect in the standings, but will need to dig a little deeper Saturday without starting running back Jalen Hurd against Texas A&M.
Hurd, the Volunteers’ leading rusher this season, hasn’t practiced this week and won’t see the field against the Aggies because of an undisclosed injury, a team spokesman confirmed to Mike Griffith of SEC Country.
The loss is yet another addition to the list of injured Volunteers who will miss the game. Linebackers Darrin Kirkland Jr. and Jalen Reeves-Maybin are both injured, along with cornerback Cam Sutton.
Backup running backs Alvin Kamara and John Kelly are expected to carry the workload in Tennessee’s backfield.
