Temple (3-2) vs. Memphis (3-1) Game Preview
Date: Thursday, Oct. 6
Game Time: 8:00 pm
Venue: Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, Memphis, TN
It’s time for Memphis to showcase itself on a national stage – at least that’s the hope for the Tigers.
They played Ole Miss well for a while, and then the floodgates opened in a 20-point loss, but the offense has been great so far, the defense has been solid – the Rebel game aside – and the team has looked terrific at times. However, it’s also played opposite ends of the spectrum.
The Tigers rolled through a light and breezy first three weeks of the season before Ole Miss, but now they play someone their own size in their American Athletic Conference opener.
This needs to be a big day for Riley Ferguson, the MU QB who started the season on fire, but threw three picks to go along with his 343 passing yards against the Rebels.
On the other side, Temple has been on a roll, ripping through Charlotte and SMU to get the offense on track. The defense might not be the same sort of brick wall it was last season, but the secondary has been fantastic and overall the team might be a whole lot better than it seems – it just doesn’t have the splashy win like it came up with last season against Penn State.
Memphis will have too much offense at home, with Ferguson having an effective enough day to survive the fight. Temple won’t go away easily, but at home the Tigers will overcome a few key mistakes to get the nice win.
