Western Kentucky Hilltoppers defensive lineman Trae Jones was shot outside the Chocolate City nightclub in Bowling Green, Kentucky, early Friday morning, according to WBKO.com’s Catharine Gardner.
The university released a statement on the incident, per Eric Crawford of WDRB:
A native of Cusseta, Georgia, Jones was a standout performer at Chattahoochee County High School before he committed to the Hilltoppers.
After redshirting his freshman season in 2013, Jones appeared in five games during a fruitful 2014 season for Western Kentucky that culminated with a Bahamas Bowl win over Central Michigan.
Last season, Jones did not play in any games.
