BRISTOL, Tenn. — Tennessee looks to prove it’s a legitimate championship contender Saturday with 150,000 witnesses expected to be on hand at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Of course, Virginia Tech has something to prove, too, and the teams might be more evenly matched up than some originally expected in the “Battle at Bristol” matchup at 8 p.m. tonight.
Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs will be on the spot against a fierce Hokies’ defense after struggling in a 20-13 overtime win against Appalachian State.
The Vols have a pretty strong defense, too, and coordinator Bob Shoop says he plans on combating Virginia Tech’s hurry-up offense with a no-huddle defense of his own.
Tennessee dropped from No. 9 to No. 17 in the AP Top 25 poll after last week, and the Vols lost respect in the SEC Country Power Poll, as well..
