Ole Miss loses Eric Swinney for season due to knee injury

Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze may need to get creative with the Rebels’ running-back depth chart.

Rebels backup running back Eric Swinney will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, Freeze told Edward Aschoff of ESPN. Swinney, a redshirt freshman, suffered the injury during the second quarter of the Rebels’ season-opening loss to Florida State on his first carry of the game.

Ole Miss also lost starting cornerback Ken Webster for the season with a gruesome leg injury.

Freeze will need to come up with a solution to the hole left by Swinney at the running-back position, as fellow running back Jordan Wilkins is currently serving a year-long suspension for academic reasons.
