As much as Florida coach Jim McElwain doesn’t want his team looking forward in the least, the Gators’ game Saturday night with North Texas is about building consistency and momentum leading into their showdown at Tennessee next week.
The Mean Green (1-1) are coming off a 1-11 season and have a new head coach.

The No. 23-ranked Gators (2-0), meanwhile, are hoping to contend for another SEC East title this all and looking to build on the progress they showed last week in a 45-7 win over Kentucky.
As McElwain says often, though, every game is an opportunity.
In this case, it’s an opportunity for redshirt-sophomore quarterback Luke Del Rio to continue getting comfortable and build confidence as a first-year starter.
With top wide receiver Antonio Callaway likely out with a quad injury, it’s an opportunity for the team’s other receivers to step up and assert themselves.
And it’s an opportunity for the Gators’ defense to continue wreaking havoc while facing yet another young quarterback.
