Coaches bring in motivational speaks from time-to-time to share their stories with the team.
On Tuesday, Darryl Strawberry was in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and it was his turn to speak with the Crimson Tide.
After being drafted by the New York Mets with the No. 1 overall pick of the 1980 amateur draft, Strawberry went on to play 17 years in the league between the Mets, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants. He enjoyed eight all-star game appearances, as well as four World Series Championships, but his career was riddled with off-field problems, including several arrests and problems with drugs.
ESPN’s Chris Low appeared to be in attendance at the meeting on Tuesday, and shared a clip of Strawberry’s message:
