WATCH: Bristol Motor Speedway begins its transition to football stadium following NASCAR race

Tennessee will take on Virginia Tech at Bristol Motor Speedway in Week 2 (247 Sports)

NASCAR star Kevin Harvick took the checkered flag at a rainy conclusion of the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race on Sunday.

Just a few hours later, it was football time at Bristol Motor Speedway. At least is was for the people responsible for putting together the upcoming Battle at Bristol between Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

Less than 24 hours after the NASCAR race victory was celebrated, construction crews were in place at the racing facility to transform the venue into a football stadium.

The Knoxville News-Sentinel was on hand to witness that chance on Monday morning, and shared some video on YouTube:

The foundation of the field for the Sept. 10 meeting between the Hokies and Vols was brought on by a series of dump trucks to be spread and leveled out so that an artificial playing surface may be placed on the infield of the racetrack.

The construction comes off been a busy weekend for news for this non-conference meeting, as Virginia Tech revealed some pretty interesting custom uniforms for the event while Tennessee officials chose to take their uniform selection in a different direction.
