Reggie Davis: Dropped pass against Tennessee was ‘heartbreaking,’ now motivation

The moment has lingered for Reggie Davis. Near midfield on 3rd-and-9 with his team down a touchdown, the Georgia wide receiver saw a long pass from quarterback Greyson Lambert hit his hands and fall to the turf.

The Bulldogs would ultimately lose 38-31, their second in a row after Alabama drubbed them at home, and never really recovered their momentum. And despite catching three passes for 101 yards in that game, Davis never truly did, either.

“It motivates me a lot. I still get those tweets and pictures,” Davis told UGASports.com’s Anthony Dasher on Tuesday. “At first it’s heartbreaking but you can’t let your past carry you down too far, you’ve got to let the past be the past.”

At the least, Davis is using his past mistake as fuel to come back stronger in 2016. Regardless of who starts at quarterback, Georgia should need him, too, as it has few proven receiving options beyond the talented Terry Godwin.
