Georgia Tech football schedule predictions and early game-by-game preview for 2016. Projecting how the Yellow Jackets will do this year.

2016 Georgia Tech Preview

Can Georgia Tech rebound after a disastrous season? Will the schedule be okay enough to make a run for the ACC Coastal title? Check out the preseason predictions for every game.

Sept. 3 at Boston College (in Dublin, Ireland)

It’s a “home” game for Boston College – in Ireland. The great Eagle run defense will get its shot at the Georgia Tech running game after a long offseason to prepare for it, meaning yards and points will be like pulling teeth. An inspired effort from both sides will make this a fun kickoff – game time 7:30 am ET – to begin the first big college football Saturday.

Preseason Prediction: Georgia Tech 20, Boston College 16

Sept. 10 vs. Mercer

After all the flying and after opening up the ACC season, Georgia Tech gets a chance to tune everything up against the Bears in what should be a little more than a light scrimmage. Considering the defenses coming up, this will be a chance to have a lot of statistical fun.

Preseason Prediction: Georgia Tech 55, Mercer 10

Sept. 17 vs. Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt has the exact defense to slow down the Yellow Jacket offense, but points won’t exactly be flying on the board. Georgia Tech’s ground game will be just effective enough on the few drives it’ll need to come up with a tight win, while the Commodores won’t take advantage of all their chances.

Preseason Prediction: Georgia Tech 24, Vanderbilt 19

Sept. 22 vs. Clemson

It stinks that Georgia Tech is coming off a tough game against Vanderbilt in a short week, while Clemson will get a scrimmage the week before against South Carolina State. But it’s a Thursday night game in Atlanta with the whole sports world watching, and the situation will be perfect for the Yellow Jackets to pull off the stunner. The ground game will keep Deshaun Watson off the field just enough to throw the 2016 college football season a curveball.

Preseason Prediction: Georgia Tech 27, Clemson 24

Oct. 1 vs. Miami

Everyone will be fired up about a 4-0 Georgia Tech team coming off a win over Clemson, but it’ll all come to a crashing thud. Mark Richt’s Hurricanes will get a week off to rest up and prepare, and they’ll have the offense figured out.

Preseason Prediction: Miami 31, Georgia Tech 17

Oct. 8 at Pitt

Miami’s defense will get the job done against the Yellow Jackets the week before, and Pitt will get its turn the week after. It’ll be the second home game in a row for the Panthers, and they’ll come up with a nice performance from their own ground game to rumble and roll to a key Coastal win.

Preseason Prediction: Pitt 27, Georgia Tech 17

Oct. 15 vs. Georgia Southern

Over/under on the number of forward passes thrown: 4.5. Two of the nation’s most interesting running games will give each other a taste of their own medicine. The Eagles came up with a brilliant performance two years ago in a 42-38 loss, and they’ll come up with yet another great game in a fun day for everyone who loves high-octane running attacks.

Preseason Prediction: Georgia Tech 41, Georgia Southern 34

Oct. 29 vs. Duke

It’s always a big plus for teams to get a week off to prepare for the Georgia Tech offense – Boston College, Miami, North Carolina, and Duke all get extra time. It’ll help to keep it close, but the Yellow Jacket offense will be rolling after getting its own week off to prepare.

Preseason Prediction: Georgia Tech 30, Duke 20

Nov. 5 at North Carolina

Again, teams afforded a week off to practice and prepare is a problem. North Carolina gets a perfectly-timed break to rest up for the key Coastal home game. Georgia Tech will get hit hard by the Tar Heel attack in a solid shootout.

Preseason Prediction: North Carolina 38, Georgia Tech 30

Nov. 12 at Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech is going to really, really need this. The Hokies will likely be coming in on a small losing streak, and with a road game at Notre Dame to follow, they’ll play with an air of desperation. The defense will come up with a gem in one of their most impressive wins of the season.

Preseason Prediction: Virginia Tech 31, Georgia Tech 16

Nov. 19 vs. Virginia

Georgia Tech won three in a row in the series before dropping a key game last year that sparked a four-game losing streak to close out the year. The Cavaliers won’t control the game this time around, as the Yellow Jackets roll in their regular season finale.

Preseason Prediction: Georgia Tech 40, Virginia 17

Nov. 26 at Georgia

The rivalry game will be a defensive slugfest with the Georgia front seven controlling the game for long stretches. The Yellow Jacket attack will have a few nice moments, but the Bulldogs won’t ever be in any real danger in a game that’s tight in terms of score, but not overall play.

Preseason Prediction: Georgia 27, Georgia Tech 17

2016 Prediction: 7-5
2016 ACC Prediction: 4-4
