In 15 seasons in the National Football league, former Auburn linebacker and NFL All-Pro Takeo Spikes accumulated 1,013 tackles and 19 interceptions.
On Saturday, he’ll add a college diploma to his achievements.
After two successful seasons as a Tiger, Spikes left Auburn at the end of the 1997 season. He was drafted 13th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals, and went on to have a strong pro career in Cincinnati, Buffalo, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and San Diego.
A liberal arts major on the Plains in the 90s, Spikes re-enrolled to finish the necessary courses to get his degree. In his last year under Auburn coach Terry Bowden, Spikes helped lift the Tigers to the SEC Championship game.
He’s really excited about his outfit for the big day.
