Former Alabama LB Reggie Ragland to have knee surgery, likely out for the year

After showing promise early in Buffalo Bills training camp, ex-Alabama LB Reggie Ragland’s rookie season took a turn for the worst.

The former Crimson Tide star tore his ACL and may have done other damage to his knee earlier this week.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport tweeted on Wednesday that Ragland will go in for surgery soon:

The initial prognosis is unclear, Rapoport tweeted. Ragland could be done for the year, or he could return midway through the season:

Fortunately for the Bills, there’s a comparison to be made to a recent Buffalo linebacker:

Hopefully 2016 doesn’t turn into a lost season for Ragland and the Bills, but if it does, it’s a safe bet that the former Alabama star will do everything he can to come back stronger in 2017.
