In my opinion there never can be enough bowl games. I know we have 5-7 teams playing and I know there’s probably too many but it doesn’t matter. It’s not only a reward for the players but it’s a reward for college football fans!! There’s nothing better in the middle of December than turning on ESPN almost any night of the week to watch a college football game no matter the match up. According to ESPN.com’s Brett McMurphy, the NCAA has decided to hold of on adding any new bowl games through 2019.
NCAA won’t allow new bowls for next 3 years, killing bids by Austin, Charleston & Myrtle Beach bowls in 2016 https://t.co/eRp6Hiag9Z

Many of the smaller bowls do struggle financially to make it but make no mistake. It’s a big deal for some of the smaller cities that host these events. I was living in Mobile, AL in 1999 when they started the Mobile Alabama Bowl (now GoDaddy.com Bowl). The whole city got into it. It was LaDainian Tomlinson and TCU vs. East Carolina Pirates. There was a Mardi Gras style parade for the teams. It was a great atmosphere. I hope this doesn’t discourage future groups who might want to try get a bowl in their city.
