The last time Alabama and Clemson played each other was the opening weekend of the 2008 season in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Classic in Atlanta, GA. The Tigers came in as a heavy favorite and preseason national championship contender. Head coach Tommy Bowden had future NFL running back C.J.Spiller and all eyes were on him to deliver a big performance. The Crimson Tide was coming off a first year 7-6 season under Nick Saban and no one really knew how good this team would be. Bama won the game 34-10 and went undefeated in the regular season losing to eventual national champion Florida Gators in the SEC Championship. This game is credited as the starting point of the current Alabama Dynasty under Nick Saban.
